
INDUSTRY AWARD CATEGORIES
Agency of the Year - This Award recognizes excellence in the area of artist booking. The agency must be located in Western Canada and work with western Canadian artists. Award goes to the organization.
Producer of the Year - The nominee/producer can submit work up to the equivalent amount of one CD, however this can be a compilation of more than one project by the given producer. Award goes to the individual or production team. All work submitted must have been completed in the eligible dates for the year’s awards (i.e. January 1, 2009 through March 31, 2010). The producer will be judged based on the physical work that has been submitted. For collaborations, at least one of the producers must meet the WCMA residency requirements.
Engineer of the Year - This Award recognizes excellence in the audio
recording field. The nominee/engineer can submit work up to the equivalent amount of one CD, however this can
be a compilation of more than one project by the given producer. All work submitted
must have been completed in the eligible dates for the year’s awards (i.e.
January 1, 2009 through March 31, 2010). Award goes to the engineer. The
engineer will be judged based on the physical work that has been submitted.
Multi-Media Award – This award will honour
those who are producing outstanding multi-media projects to market, promote or
educate the public about a musician, band or industry team. This includes but
is not limited to; music video, DVD, website design, EPK and other marketing
initiatives and visual media. The work and information submitted must have
been completed between January 1, 2009 and March 31, 2010. Residency requirements must be met,
and the media piece must have been produced/shot in Western Canada using local
production crews.
Heritage Award (Host Province Only) - This award recognizes a musician or group who have had a profound and lasting impact on the Western Canadian Music Scene. The individual or group must be from the host Province. The musician / group should be perceived as "unsung heroes" and must have made their mark as an influence and inspiration for the Western Canadian Music Scene. Nominee submissions are welcomed from MIA members, however the Board of Directors and the Host Committee determine the final winner.
